The council has developed a new ‘Integrated Impact Assessment‘ (IIA) to assess the likely (or actual) effects of decisions/policies on the climate and on people in respect of wellbeing, safety and protected equality characteristics. This includes looking for opportunities to promote equality, climate change that may have previously been missed or could be better used, as well as negative or adverse impacts that can be removed or mitigated where possible.
The categories and questions in the assessment are based on the council’s priorities and strategies.
The IIA will be used when developing proposals, to make sure the full impact of any policy is considered. Integrated Impact Assessments will be published as part of the papers for the relevant decision-making committee (i.e. Cabinet and Council).
