Litter is a growing problem that affects both countryside and urban areas. In the last year alone, an estimated 25 million tonnes of litter were dropped in the UK.
Community litter picking is a great way to tackle litter in your local area and helps bring the community together. If you love where you live and would like to get involved in community litter picking, we would love to support you.
Our partners, Norse South East, can supply rubbish bags and also arrange for collection of any rubbish from your event. There are a number of things to be mindful of if you are thinking of organising a litter pick in the Borough. The safety of you and your volunteers comes first.
We can only provide support for community litter picks that comply with our Health and Safety Guidance.
We can only collect litter that has been picked from Havant Borough Council land or Hampshire County Council adopted highway.
When requesting support for your litter pick you will need to provide details of where you will be litter picking so we can check landownership details.
You would need to request permission from the landowner to complete a litter pick on housing association land. The landowner would also need to be contacted to arrange rubbish removal.
