You can be fined up to £80 if you drop litter or don’t clean up after your dog.
Our litter campaign
We are now fining anyone we see dropping litter or failing to clean up after their dogs.
The aim of this campaign is:
- To reduce litter
- To encourage people to clean up after their dogs
- To make everyone aware that if we see them dropping litter or failing to clean up after their dogs they will be fined each and every time.
Currently we employ around 30 people and spend £700,000 a year cleaning up litter.
We don’t plan to reduce this effort as we want to make a real improvement in the appearance of the borough.
We have just bought some equipment to clean up chewing gum, which not only looks awful but sticks to people’s shoes, so that we can really improve our streets.
