Bin collections across the Borough of Havant will not change during the August bank holiday.

All rubbish, recycling and garden waste due to be collected on Monday 26 August will continue as usual.

Householders are reminded to have their bins out ready for collection by 7am on their scheduled day for crews to collect.

You only need to report a missed bin (rubbish, recycling or garden waste) if you notice that your neighbour's bin has been collected, but yours hasn't.

If your bin is missed, report it to us using our contact us form before 4pm on the next working day after your scheduled collection.

Clean is green! - Have you ever wondered why the items you put in your recycling bin need to be clean?

If plastic bottles, cans or tins still have contents in them, they can contaminate your whole bin and also the collection lorry. This makes things like paper and cardboard no longer suitable for recycling.

So please make sure that before they start their recycling journey, you empty and rinse out plastic bottles, drink cans and tins. It will also help to keep your recycling bin pest and odour-free.

Putting the right items in your recycling bin is important too.  Incorrect items could prevent the entire collection lorry being refused at the local Material Recovery Facilities in Portsmouth.
