To celebrate the success of Havant’s Link Up Leigh Park over the past three years, an event was held today (16 September) at The Dickinson Centre, Havant.

Link Up Leigh Park is one of five projects that sits under the Economies for Healthier Lives scheme.

Economies for Healthier Lives, funded by The Health Foundation, explores how local economies can improve health inequalities around the country, and works towards strengthening the relationship between economic development and health.

Councillor Philip Munday, Leader of Havant Borough Council, said: “It was great to be able to celebrate the success of Link Up Leigh Park and the work they are doing with their partners to provide important opportunities to local young people.

“The Economies for Healthier Lives scheme has proven to be invaluable over the past three years, with many young people gaining employment or training. Having access to meaningful work and education positively effects people’s health, creates social connections, and lifts people out of poverty.”

Link Up Leigh Park - in partnership with the University of Portsmouth and Havant & South Downs College - is focused on removing social, health and economic barriers to 16-24-year-olds accessing high-quality, high-value work.
