Havant Borough Council will be honouring the men and women that serve our nation at home and overseas by raising the Armed Forces Day Flag.

In a ceremony on Monday 24 June, the specially-designed flag will be hoisted over the Public Service Plaza, Civic Centre Road, Havant, and will fly until Armed Forces Day itself, on Saturday 29 June.

The service, led by Reverend Chris Spencer of St Wilfrid’s Church, Waterlooville, will be attended by The Mayor of Havant (Councillor Peter Wade) and the Leader and Deputy Leader of the council (Councillors Philip Munday and Philippa Gray).

Residents are invited to watch the short ceremony, which starts at 10.30am, and pay tribute to past and present service personnel, their partners, and families. After the ceremony, refreshments will be available in the Hollybank Room in the Plaza.

The council holds the prestigious Gold Employers Recognition Scheme Award for its work supporting the Armed Forces community, and has also re-signed the Armed Forces Covenant, which ensures that members of the Armed Forces community experience no disadvantage as a result of their service.

More information about the support and services the council offers to those in the Armed Forces Community can be found on our website.
