Volunteers who lead walks across the borough were thanked this month for their contribution to keeping Havant healthy.
On Monday 2 December an event was held to celebrate local volunteer’s commitment local walk leaders were invited to the Public Service Plaza to thank them for the year of volunteering. Each volunteer was also gifted a new fleece to keep them cosy in the colder winter weather.
Some of the walk leaders have been leading walks in our borough for more than 20 years.
Walks take place across the borough in Hayling, Emsworth, Staunton Country Park, Bedhampton and Havant, on a weekly, fortnightly and monthly basis. The walk durations range from 10 - 90 minutes and are for people looking for a gentler walk than your average Rambler's walk, and some have a shorter or slower paced walk available for those that need it.
Cllr Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration & Communities, said: “Walking is such a wonderful way to get outside, enjoy our local area and meet new and old friends.
“We are so grateful to all of our volunteers who keep these opportunities available to our residents, thank you!”
