A new interactive cycling map is now available for residents and visitors across the Borough of Havant.

The new map aims to help encourage people to leave their cars at home and travel actively around the borough, for work and school, as well as exploring the area for leisure.

People can now plan a cycle ride in the borough using the interactive map at https://havant.activemap.co.uk

With this map you can view all up-to-date routes and interact with them to get more information as well as plan your journey to key locations.

The cycle map sets out the major branded cycle routes through the borough as well as showing the National Cycle Network and how they link together.  It allows cyclists to explore traffic free routes, on-carriageway cycle facilities, cycle shops, cycle parking and crossings across the Borough of Havant, covering Bedhampton, Cowplain, Emsworth, Havant, Hayling Island, Leigh Park, Purbrook and Waterlooville.

Councillor Grainne Rason, Cabinet lead for Climate Emergency, Environment and Water Quality, said “Cycling has many benefits for our physical and mental well-being, the health of our local environment, and our wallets.

“Supporting people’s journeys via active travel around the borough, be it to work, school or pleasure, is a priority for the council, so I’m pleased to highlight our new interactive cycle maps for use by the public.

“The Easter holiday is a great time for all ages to explore new ways to do the school run, work commute, or start a new hobby. Our interactive online map provides the most up-to-date information on routes and for anyone who prefers a hard copy, there are printable versions available to download online.”

You can plan a cycle ride from, to, and around the borough using the National Cycle Network on the Sustrans website: www.sustrans.org.uk/ncn/map/national-cycle-network

The maps are part of Havant Borough Council’s wider ambitions for encouraging more active travel, through cycling and walking, and as a result, support better physical and mental health, and improved local air quality, as well as contributing to lower carbon generation and our wider Climate Change Strategy.

Maps are also available to download as high-resolution PDFs for printing at home.
