Children of all ages and abilities will be able to enjoy the facilities at the newly refurbished Cowplain Recreation Ground play area.
The recent refurbishment, costing £129,308, has been funded from CIL (Community Infrastructure Levy) and has been completed on schedule by Kompan Ltd.
The site is fully wheelchair accessible and features a range of new play equipment including: swings, sensory panels, spinners, slides, and an overhead gliding unit which is unique to the borough.
Havant Borough Council has worked closely with a student voice group from Horndean Technology College to co-design the site, giving students the chance to collaborate and share ideas.
Councillor Gillian Harris, Cabinet Lead for Regeneration & Communities, said: "I’m extremely delighted to see this play area refurbished, particularly because it has been co-designed by young people themselves. The students of Horndean Technology College have done us proud in designing a play area considering the needs of all; from toddlers to teenagers."
“Outdoor play benefits children's physical and mental health, and is a great way to stay active."
Work will continue, between the council and students from Padnell Junior School, to help help enhance biodiversity in the area.
