Havant Borough Council is working in collaboration with two partners to help residents reduce their energy bills.

Residents are being invited to attend a series of one hour workshops to gain valuable tips on how to minimise heat loss from their homes, how to use a thermal imaging camera, and the latest funding opportunities for energy-saving home improvements.

The first workshop, delivered by Share Portsmouth and Switched On Portsmouth will take place at the start of Big Energy Saving Week (17 – 23 January), a national campaign focused on raising awareness and helping people save money and energy.

Workshops will take place on:

  • Friday 17 January 2025, 1:30pm – 2:30pm
  • Saturday 1 February 2025, 1:30pm – 2:30pm

To book your place, which will also include a one-year membership to the Portsmouth Library of Things, visit https://www.tickettailor.com/events/shareportsmouth/143404

As part of the membership, Portsmouth Library of Things will offer for hire two thermal imaging cameras for people to test out in their own homes.

Councillor Grainne Rason, Cabinet Lead for Environment & Water Quality & Climate Change Champion said, "We are pleased to support this initiative that empowers our local community to take control of their energy usage. These workshops provide practical tools and knowledge to help make our homes more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly.

“By reducing the amount of energy we use, we can also reduce the amount we pay for our energy bills.”

In addition to the workshops, Havant Borough Council will be hosting a stall at the Public Service Plaza (Civic Centre Road, PO9 2AX) in February, offering residents a chance to try out the thermal imaging camera and learn more about its benefits.

The council also works with Warmer Homes, a programme that offers funded energy efficiency measures within the home. It focuses on the installation of low carbon heating measures. More information about Warmer Homes and the services they provide can be found on their website.
