The Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) provides an assessment of land within the borough with potential for housing development. Its preparation is a process of
- identifying sites
- assessing their housing potential and
- considering if and when they are likely to be developed.
The SHLAA is a key piece of evidence in the preparation of the Local Plan.
Latest SHLAA
The SHLAA is currently being reviewed and the updated version will be published here when the process is complete.
Status of the sites in the SHLAA:
The SHLAA includes all known sites that have the potential for housing development but does NOT give them planning status.
The SHLAA does NOT determine whether a site should be allocated for housing development. That is the role of the preparation process of a Local Plan.
The inclusion of a site in the SHLAA is NOT relevant in the determination of planning applications, and therefore does NOT indicate whether or not planning permission would be granted for development on any particular site. Each application site will be considered on its merits.
