Havant represents a unique opportunity in the South East, located between the beautiful countryside of the South Downs National Park and the Solent coastal experience.
Benefiting from excellent national road and rail links, Havant plays a major role in the wider Portsmouth & Solent economy. Havant Borough Council has committed long-term resources to support regeneration and the borough is at the beginning of a new era of business development, commercial success and resident amenity.
Regeneration strategy for Havant
This strategy sets out the economic case and opportunities for regeneration in Havant Borough.
A dynamic borough, Havant recognises the need to stay ahead of the curve and adapt to the needs of the world around it. Havant Borough Council has identified several distinct opportunities for regeneration and development in the borough.
- Major development opportunities exist within Havant Town Centre and the neighbouring Civic Plaza Campus.
- Mixed use regeneration opportunities are available in Waterlooville, including high density residential development. Opportunity exists to capitalise on the recent substantial investments at the West of Waterlooville development, where approximately 2,550 new homes, 2 primary schools, leisure, retail, employment and community facilities including much-needed affordable housing is complemented by extensive restoration and conservation programme for meadows, ancient woodland and the River Wallington.
- As a landowner in Leigh Park town centre, the council is open to explore opportunities with investors.
- Southleigh is identified in the council’s emerging Local Plan for up to 2,100 new homes and other major infrastructure. Southleigh offers a golden opportunity for a variety of investment.
- The Council has identified key sites suitable for development and regeneration uses on Hayling Island seafront
